Cherishing traditions while establishing our own Rituals

As a child I always loved the ritual of opening a door that came with having an advent calendar. The way my mother set it up, it became a pocket of time, where we spend time together with intention. She lit a candle, made a hot cocoa and we would open a door. It felt like this peaceful pause in the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

In my adult life now that is what has me still cherish this tradition to this day, an intentional pause infused with a sparkle of magic and childlike wonder.

That is what inspired me to create this Advent Calendar Journal, a pocket of time to pause, and meet ourselves exactly as we are. A space that allows us to establish our own rituals in however we want to celebrate the upcoming season. Whether we use it leading up to the Solstice, Christmas or the New Year. We get to decide what it means to us to connect to a sense of childlike wonder and nourish ourselves with an intentional  pocket of time each day.

Journaling is an untamed playground, where we get to express all the different flavours of us without inhibition and judgement.  It is one of the most effortless ways we can connect to what is alive in us and what matters to us.

It can help us process our emotions, direct our thoughts, access our imagination, open pathways into our intuition, all while having a pleasurable, nourishing and joyful experience.

Five minutes is often all it takes to allow myself to pause and deepen my relationship with myself on the page. So many times it has been what turned my day around or allowed me to fully enjoy and embrace the beauty of an experience.

And through that I find I am able to show up with so much more presence and fullness in between the pages of my life, for the people I care about, for myself and for what mattes to me.
